We are Daphne Mintz and Bob Smith. Daphne is a playwright and Bob is an actor.
Daphne's first play, Cinnamon Girl, was produced in 2004 as a staged reading by Little Colored Girl Productions. Under the mentorship of LCG's founder, Sharon Harris, Daphne wrote the play and directed the reading. The mature subject matter of the play introduced a serious challenge to Daphne: where can this play be performed? The sexual content and brief nudity made the play unsuitable for church basements and community centers. With the encouragement and guidance of Sharon, Daphne established Afterdinner Theatre Productions as the first step toward independent stage production. What's next? Check out the playwrights page to learn more about Daphne's works and plans for them.
Bob catapulted himself into the world of theatre somewhere near the bottom of a second bottle of wine at a birthday dinner where the stage manager for Lionheart Theatre recruited him to take on a bit part in No Time for Sergeants. He showed up for rehearsal and landed a minor role and 3 bit roles. And he was bit! He soon enrolled in an acting class and within a year landed two lead roles that would firmly establish him as an integral part of the metro Atlanta theatre community. In addition to acting, Bob provides production assistance for LCG and Afterdinner, and is an assistant director for Lionheart.
